Tube Laser Cut Types

Precision Fabrication Backed by Smart Engineering

At R Tindall, we don’t just fabricate, we engineer with precision. Our advanced tube laser cutting capabilities offer a range of cut types tailored to meet the needs of modern mechanical and fire protection systems. Every cut we make is shaped by decades of fabrication experience, powered by world-class technology, and delivered with accuracy, speed, and consistency.

Our Tube Laser Cut Types

We offer multiple cutting styles, each designed for specific applications. Whether you’re working with round tube, box section or require detailed mitres, our team ensures optimal results based on the geometry and purpose of each cut.

Holes in Round Tube

The default cutting process for a tube laser is that the laser cutting head is perpendicular to the material surface, the tube rotates in the A axis and moves backwards and forwards in the X axis, this produces an “XA hole”. True, drill holes can be processed but this more time consuming, the cutting head moves laterally in the Y axis and the tube moves backwards and forwards in the X axis to produce an “XY hole”

XA Holes

The tube rotates around the A axis (360° rotation) and back and forth along the X axis (length), keeping the laser head perpendicular to the material.

XY Holes

The laser head traverses the Y axis (width), whilst the tube moves back and forth on the X axis (length) to form precise cut outs.

Radius Holes

When a hole is cut near the radius of a box section the default cutting style is “XA” and the tube laser will process the hole with a teardrop effect. The tube laser can be programmed to cut the hole in a “XY” style but this process takes longer and in some cases cannot be achieved.

When a tube laser processes material with a mitre cut the default cutting style is a “snub nose”, the laser head stays perpendicular to the material. A true mitre “saw cut” can be achieved up to a maximum angle is 45 degrees, this process takes significantly more time and is more expensive
